Episode 99: Who Puppets the Muppets?

Have you put chocolate in your peanut butter lately? Well we here at DT!HQ want to make sure you've gotten your regular dose of mashup content! The buzzwords of the week are "Comic Book Movies" and "Muppets." So what comic arc would make the best Muppets movie? Only time and 75 minutes of nostalgic vocal impressions will tell!

Wildly enough, Matt has never seen a Muppets, so he opted to go for something familiar. Todd knows the quick way to success is through the toy market and he leans into it. Andrew, on the other hand, is fighting Reaganomics?

Episode 98: Wario's Pro-Union Purple Pimpmobile

It sure feels weird to release an episode about summer road trips on a day after it snows, but we don't control the weather! Today we're pivoting DT!HQ into a AAA as we describe some video game-related Triptiks. Our goal: to plan a family vacation. Our rules: it's got to be related to Mario Kart or whatever. This week we ask the question, "Which Mario Kart track would make the best family road trip?"

Kyle may or may not be arguing for a fun family romp to the shores (shoals?) of Lake Erie. Andrew pitches a track very reminiscent of 2000s Nickelodeon prize packs. Todd has only really played one Mario Kart game, let's see how it works out for him.

FLAVOR TEXT: V for Vendetta

Verily, we venture into a vast volume of the verifiably valued graphic novel version of V for Vendetta by Alan Moore in the very early 80's. Vacate your vainglorius valor as we vanquish the veneer of vacillation with verbose veracity...also Kyle does a really good job of summarizing this storyline, you just have to get past the moment he says "Earballs."

TRIGGER WARNING: V for Vendetta addresses all sorts of terrible things assocaited with a facist state including, but not limited to: sexual assault, racism, antisemitism, homophobia, and more. Please be mindful of this if you wish to join us for our Flavor Text today.

Episode 97: What Dat Dogman Do?

It's Spring in the midwest which means it's time to break out the grill and throw a backyard BBQ on the days it doesn't snow or rain! We love our low 60's cornhole parties here in Ohio, but sometimes an invitation to a good, old-fashioned cookout requires a little more. Sometimes, it requires a plus one. Well today we're bringing a ringer to our barbeques by answering one of the dumbest questions we've ever asked, "What Elden Ring boss should you invite to a barbeque?"

As we enter our post-modern phase here at DT!HQ, Matt is here with a frisbee. Kyle violates the sacred rule by turning his plus one into a plus two. Todd tried to trick us all into being part of an intervention for his new friend who steals stars. If all of those sentences sound disconnected, you're right. Matt, Kyle and Todd have never played Elden Ring, so we had to call in a guest this week and Giovanni Colantonio answered the call!

Episode 96: Three Years Older and a Whole Lot Worse

The year was 2018 and a small, independent podcast called Debate This! decided to reboot some not-so-famous Spider-Man villains from the "silly sixties." Today, 39 whole months later, that same small, independent podcast will dare to do it again. We may never best the likes of Paste Pot Pete, but we'll certainly aim higher than a "Living Vampire."

Andrew brings us back to the wild world of animal-themed baddies this week as he leads us Down Under. Kyle combines The Fast and the Furious with the MCU in the mashup we've wanted for years. Matt brought a mobster with a big dumb forehead, and that's pretty much it. Come take a ride with us as we try to ride that sweet Morbius SEO wave as we decide which classic Spidey Villain deserves a Leto-esque reboot.

Avenge This! FEED DROP: The Batman

Something a little different for you this week!

"The Ploose is Loose" will soon be transitioning into "Avenge This!" Which will more or less be the same show, except we're going to open up to comic book properties outside of the MCU (and hopefully will stop being asked about The Mandalorian). We wanted to share this announcement on the Debate This! feed because we know you care about and follow along with every single thing we do.

Stay tuned for more changes, and enjoy this taste of the new show where Todd is joined by Matt to break down Matt Reeves's "The Batman"

Episode 95: Bored Apes and Danger Room Japes

The early 2000s were truly a wild a time and nothing personifies the hubris of the new millennium better than the prime time line-up of Music Television. You may know Music Television by it's Christian name, MTV, but you definitely know it as the cable channel which loved to show us the glamourous life of celebrities. Well this week the execs asked us to put together a show for DT!V. They asked us to revamp 2000s MTV staple "Cribs" and determine which superhero lair would fit perfectly into a 2022 episode.

Every once and a while, one of the debaters finds a comic character that they want to talk about, whether or not they answer the question. That was Andrew's game plan this week. Todd and Kyle both brought child soldiers to the party and that's all we'll say about that.

Recommended reading: Here's the referenced Cribs compilation. Redman's feature starts at 6:00.

Episode 94: It's About Drive

Look, you're reading the shownotes of this episode which means one of two things: you're either new to this show in which case turn back now and start with a different episode, or you really care about this show in which case we're very sorry. We've asked ourselves a lot of questions, dear listener, but this week we're doing something important. This week, we're predicting what video game movie Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will star in next.

If you're in to real time strategy games with nuclear diplomats and expansive skill trees, you're going to love Matt's answer. Todd tries to tell a gritty, emotional back story about a genocidal villain and it goes fine. Andrew does a bit and it's super dumb and bad.
