Episode 67: Swipe Right for Frost Mages (ft Eiya)

You know how when you wistfully watch people play World of Warcraft, and silently wish to yourself that you could just somehow find the nerve to join the worldwide phenomenon? Longingly watch from the sidelines no more, dear listeners! We, the expert marketers at Debate This! have partnered with Big WoW, Inc to organize the biggest collab in the game's 15+ year history. We are partnering with real-life, actual sports teams to turn their beloved mascots into mounts that players can ride and show off to their friends. We have a bipedal ant dripping with machismo, a Midwestern kangaroo with very white Asics tennies, and a divorcee living out their flirty 50s.

Special thanks to our *actual* WoW expert, Gillian "Eiya" Long! You can watch Eiya on GCDTV (twitch.tv/gcdtv) covering all things competitive WoW as the current Arena World Championship (AWC) host and also as a sideline reporter. You can also find her on Twitch at twitch.tv/eiya, and on Twitter and Instagram @EiyaWoW.

SIDEBAR: Videogame Creepypastas LIVE(ish)!

Our tradition of collating the greatest in internet-sourced amateur horror fiction about video games continues in our very first live episode! And, of course by "live," we mean "streamed on Twitch." This year's collection of free, unregulated creative writing exercises includes a glitched ROM of Metroid 2, an urban legend about a secret Numbers Station in Fallout 3, a massively-multiplayer murder simulation, and an experimental system that connects to your brain stem creating a situation where...say it with me...If You Die In The Game, You Die For Real.

Debate This! is streaming live every Monday night! You can find us on twitch.tv/debatethiscast every Monday at 8pm ET.

FLAVOR TEXT: Overwatch

Follow along the episode with our Overwatch image gallery.

Even if you've never played Overwatch, you've most definitely heard of it. You've watched it played on TV, you've seen the constant feed of YouTube content, and you've heard your nephew talking about it incessantly before they were "Dabbing a Fortnite". Even though the game is 4 years old, Blizzard's Overwatch is a staple of the eSports community, and is the undeniable king of team shooters.

But even if you play this game competitively, chances are you've never heard of the complex story that lives behind all of the emo skeletons and sassy mech drivers. For some reason, Blizzard decided to create a deep and compelling backstory of a robot uprising (naturally), an Avengers-esque team of superheroes, a second robot uprising after the robots realized humanity is flawed (classic), and a talking Science-Gorilla who eats a lot of sandwiches.
